The Cleeve Bookshop Poetry Club will meet every two weeks, starting from Wednesday October 5th. The timings for each workshop will be from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.
The entry price for each session will be £3.00.
Each evening will involve a variety of writing exercises, reading and discussion, as well as supportive feedback on each other's work. The workshops will revolve around a theme, subject or poet. We will talk about the creative process, experiment with style and form, encourage each other and get inspired!
This group is for poets at any level of experience, from beginners to experienced writers. We want this group to be fun, relaxed and supportive. Our Poetry Club will be organised and run by Claire Thelwell, a local poet who is passionate about bringing people together to experiment, share and develop their ideas.
Claire has a Creative Writing degree from the University of Gloucestershire where she was awarded the Francis Close Prize for her work. Her poems have been published in various anthologies and her enthusiasm for supporting and collaborating with others has led her to run workshops for the Cheltenham Poetry Society, as well as proofreading collections for independent publishers.
No preparation or previous experience necessary, just bring something to write with, something to write on and see where your writing will take you!
